Welcome to Rivers Tutoring! 👋
As a SEND-trained tutor and a fellow home-educating parent, I know that "one-size-fits-all" rarely works for our children. I created Rivers Tutoring to offer a calm, quiet, and pressure-free space where children can explore topics at their own speed.
My background in Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Child Psychology shapes how I run my sessions. I don't aim for perfection—I aim for connection. I believe that when a child feels safe and understood, their confidence naturally starts to grow.
What you can expect from my sessions:
A Neuro-inclusive Space: Whether your child is neurodivergent, has SEN, or just finds the school environment overwhelming, they are very welcome here. I keep my groups small so I can be mindful of everyone's needs.
Curiosity over Completion: I don't believe in rushing through worksheets. Instead, I focus on genuine engagement. If we spend the whole session digging into one interesting question, that’s time well spent.
Simple Flexibility: I know how busy family life is. That’s why there are no long-term commitments or expensive sign-ups—everything is booked session-by-session to suit your family’s needs.
A "Learning Together" Approach: I combine my training and safeguarding experience with my own experience as a home-educator. I’m not here to lecture; I’m here to be a partner in your child’s learning journey.
I offer interactive online sessions for children aged 6–11. If you are looking for a gentle, supportive way for your child to build skills in Maths, English, Science, or Art, I’d love to welcome them to a session soon.
Session Details & Benefits
🟡 Affordable & Flexible: £3.50 per session. No subscriptions or long-term contracts; book exactly what works for your family’s schedule.
🟡 40-Minute Focus: Sessions are designed to be short and intentional, keeping in mind the natural attention spans of primary-aged children.
🟡 Live via Zoom: Join us from the comfort and safety of your own home.
🟡 Small Groups: With a maximum of 10 students, I aim to keep groups small enough so that every child has the opportunity to participate at their own comfort level.
🟡 Consistent Support: Every session is led by me, River. You’ll always know who is teaching your child and who is guiding the group.
🟡 Neuro-Inclusive Design: My sessions are planned with different learning styles in mind. I aim to create an environment where children with SEN or neurodivergent needs feel respected and understood.
🟡 Encouraging Atmosphere: My goal is to foster a positive, low-pressure space where children feel safe enough to try, make mistakes, and build confidence.
🟡 Optional Resources: Printable activity sheets are provided before sessions for those who enjoy having them, though many of our activities are hands-on and discussion-based.
🟡 Home-Education Aligned: I design these sessions to complement—not replace—your child’s current home-education approach, providing an extra layer of support as and when you need it.
